Roadside Romeo is an Indian drama film directed by K. Bhagyaraj. The film stars Silambarasan, Shriya Saran, Mansoor Ali Khan and Santhanam in the lead roles with Mouli playing Silambarasan's father.The film was released on 3 September 2010 to mostly negative reviews but a good opening at the box office, eventually becoming a "Hit" at the box office. What seemed like a small incident would turn out to be one of the most talked about events for Detective Romeo who is sent to investigate a hit and run case. However, what he thinks is a case of a hit and run turns out to be an elaborate trap devised by the powerful Don Ivarra. The film was announced in August 2009 with director K. Bhagyaraj making his Malayalam debut after taking a break from directing Hindi films. Silambarasan was signed on to play the lead in the film along with Santhanam, who plays his father roles. The role of Silambarasan's father was played by Mouli and Mansoor Ali Khan and Shriya Saran were cast as their daughters. The film is produced by Bhagyaraj under the banner of his company, Colour Yellow Productions. Cinematography was done by "M Ashok Kumar" with the background score being provided by V. Manikandan. The film was shot at various locations in Chennai and Ennore. The movie was completed in a record time of 36 days, a few days before the official launch on 1 September 2010. The audio was released by "Cochin 2006". Haricharan gave a song "Oru Vellaikum Kunnu". Silambarasan and Shriya Saran sang the songs "Muthuvelil" and "Manidikkun". Mansoor Ali Khan and Santhanam also sang for their respective characters. The song "Idhaya Thamai", was picturised on Silambarasan and Mansoor Ali Khan. The popular comedy show, Koffee with Karthik, had recommended the film to viewers after which it conquered numerous screens across Kerala. The satellite rights of the film were secured by Jaya TV. The movie opened to a better response than other films in a similar genre in its opening weekend. The movie made a good business of . The film received negative reviews. Rediff gave the film 1.5 stars out of 5 and stated "It's one of those films where you watch with bated breath hoping it'll be over soon". Sify commented the film as "Dull, boring and well below average flick" and rated 1.5/5 mentioning that "The director has to take the blame for his step child". Nowrunning rated it 2/5 calling it a poor remake of "Bhale Manchi Roju" by calling it "K.Bhagyaraj's Bhale Manchee Roju, which is neither well-written nor well-made". cfa1e77820
